Female Merlin still about, hunting ground nesting birds like Yellow Wagtails, Meadow Pipit & Skylark over the rough pasture. It’s a very pale bird & can be mistaken for a kestrel but has a different jizz, actively scanning out from a post or low mound for prey on the wing to hunt
Blanket bog at Glencastle, near Belmullet, Co. Mayo. These fawn coloured bogs stretch across the hills as far as the eye can see. There are no trees or livestock, only sky and the sound of the wind and the call of the Skylark.
