The only moments of conflict or aggression I witnessed took place beyond the gates, out on Broadway Ave. I repeatedly approached people in that crowd. Every single person I approached told me they were NOT a Columbia or Barnard student. None of them had badges to get on campus.

Our team spent long hours reporting on and around Columbia’s campus on Thursday & Friday. I want to clear some stuff up. I didn’t see a single instance of violence or aggression on the lawn or at the student encampment. The student-led protest was peaceful and often very quiet…

we (the native undergrads) had good intentions with this plaque and genuinely worked so hard to get this crumb from the institution during a time when there were not many of us. over the past 10 years, i’ve realized the limits of land acknowledgements and our mistakes.

Please read this as many times as you need to. We don’t need rallies at other institutions saying “We stand with Columbia”. We need you to escalate for the sake of Gaza and take inspiration and tactics from Columbia as needed! Please focus on Gaza!!!

The Columbia student activists are NOT targeting Jewish students FFS. THEY ARE ALSO JEWISH STUDENTS. The White House lies and lies and lies, here putting non-violent students futures, health and lives at risk. The biggest megaphone in the USA just called them violent antisemites.

UPDATE: Students at the Columbia Gaza Solidarity Encampment are pitching tents again.

The administration had previously threatened to raid the camp again if they set up tents.

The tents will allow protesters to hold the lawn through the rain and cold nights.
