None of these folks showed up when I lived on campus and white supremacists with tikki torches yelling “Jews will not replace us” marched through campus as I hid my three kids.
Happening at UVA in Charlottesville, police in riot gear are moving in to arrest protesters. Remember when neo nazis openly chanted 'Jews will not replace us' and the police did nothing?
In my 20+ years of activism I've never seen this level of police response to so little provocation. The student protests have hit a nerve, and are honestly more threatening to power than I (or likely most anyone) would have guessed.
I do wonder how liberals who see armed police cracking heads on campuses & think 'Well, those folks deserve it, they're leftists/Palestinians/agitators/etc,' don't also think: 'Hold on, if I don't speak out against this now, how on earth will I complain when Trump does it to me?'
it’s been more than 24 hours and i haven’t seen a single condemnation of this violence from politicians who freaked out about protesters chanting and holding signs
Biden has the audacity to give that speech that protest shouldn’t lead to disorder — while planning to speak at Morehouse’s commencement— Martin Luther King Jr’s alma mater.
MLK spoke about white moderates more devoted to order than to justice.
So I'm hearing that occupying buildings is actually violence? Interesting. I wonder if there's another situation where we could apply this logic... hmmm
These ghouls know that revolutionary change is snapping relentlessly at their heels and their days in power are numbered, so they're pulling out all the stops to do as much fucking damage as possible before we dropkick them off the side of a mountain into the trashcan of history
What's cool about looking back at the history of college protests is that 19 year old students have been right about every single American war, and the esteemed Harvard educated opinion writers at the New York Times have been wrong about every single American war.
