Black students who attend PWIs don’t need to enrich their peers’ experience to justify their admission.

Redress for racism - and the systematic (and sometimes violent) exclusion of generations of Black people from PWIs - doesn’t need to benefit other students to be important.

There’s nothing I hate more as a Black man working in a predominantly white space than being told that my “tone” and “attitude” are inappropriate. Especially when it’s in the setting of me being assertive while advocating for myself.

I get that #Juneteenth is a relatively new holiday for most people in the US. And the non-Blacks in my area are tripping a bit about how to approach it. So here are a few tips.

🌴: mark your days off in your calendars and plan your vacation now - have something to look forward to

🧦: always bring an extra pair of socks

Things that were helpful for me as an intern.
- figuring out a system to organize myself during clinical care.
- knowing WHO to ask for help and HOW to ask them.
-establishing boundaries early on.
- being compassionate to myself and remembering that I was in a learning process.
