I just learned in church this very morning during our Black History Month program that Rolly, in real life, was Jester Hairston, an accomplished composer, songwriter and expert on Black spirituals. I had NO idea. So that's my Black History Month shocker, for sure.

Sometimes you need extended time away from a writing project to figure out where it should go next or what needs to be revised out. During that time away, you live and take in more of the world around you. And sometimes you transform in ways that benefit the manuscript.

Every day, several times a day, and I love it. So does young Taytum, who seems to have come out the womb knowing how a conversation is supposed to go. So much so, now she talks to herself too. 😁
