Despite more than 80% support for unionization, Forbes management told us this evening that they won’t voluntarily recognize our unit, and instead will force us to have an election.

I support the Forbes Union.

I've spent more than a decade at Forbes in two stints here, and love the work we do here and the freedom we have to do it. I've also been covered by NewsGuild of NY in an earlier job.

I believe is the best way forward for all of us.

.Forbes Union: 'We want a better balance of power and, most importantly, we want our passion for journalism to drive us instead of the fear of losing our jobs.' How will they do that? Unionize. ✊

Yellen on Congress passing a 'big' COVID-19 relief package: 'In the long run, I believe the benefits will far outweigh the costs, especially if we care about helping people who have been struggling for a very long time.'

Yellen on inequality, per transcript of opening remarks:

'People worry about a K-shaped recovery but well before COVID-19 infected a single American, we were living in a K-shaped economy, one where wealth built on wealth while working families fell further and further behind.'

Yellen says most important thing we can do to get on a path of fiscal sustainability is defeat the pandemic.

“To avoid doing what we need to do now to address the pandemic .. would likely leave us in a worse place fiscally and with respect to our debt situation.”

The chart says it all.

The US economy has recovered just over 60% of its covid losses. It's now about the size it was in Q1 2018.

Bottom line: US is recovering, but still a long way to go.

Latest on stimulus talks: Pelosi says she's still waiting for answers from Mnuchin on virus testing/tracing, state and local aid, schools, child care funding, tax credits, federal unemployment insurance, OHSA and liability. That's a long list. speaker.gov/sites/speaker.…

An optimistic Pelosi says stimulus talks are progressing, but two huge issues (state and local aid, liability) are still unresolved with 12 days until the election. And none of it's going anywhere without at least some GOP buy-in. forbes.com/sites/sarahhan…

McConnell appears to kill any chance of big stimulus by Nov. 3

'Mitch McConnell told Senate Republicans on Tuesday that he has warned the White House NOT to make a big stimulus deal before the election, according to two people familiar with his remarks.'
