She was so happy and she felt so much more confident about going to the hospital. I loveddd being able to do that for her. It was definitely a reminder of how deep medical racism is and how important representation of black people, ESPECIALLY black women is in healthcare.

She was saying she feels like “she’s not taken seriously and treated like a crazy person” when her hair is all over the place. So I flat twisted her hair into a cute little style for her in the back of the ambulance while we were otw to the hospital.

Little thread: I had a patient today who was a little elderly black woman. She was telling me that she really didn’t want to go to the hospital because her hair wasn’t done and she notices that yt doctors and nurse treat her differently when her hair is done vs. when it isn’t.

Two years ago we published a paper about online community migration, and I think the findings and recommendations are relevant to what I'm seeing right now on Twitter. Especially the barriers and challenges to relocating (and maybe some solutions). 🧵cmci.colorado.edu/~cafi5706/CSCW…

yes not having money makes literally everything difficult. but the premise that life is only worth sharing with others when you have money (and the assumption that having money is a state of being with exponential growth trajectory) is definitely something to interrogate

life shifts so fast and unpredictably and for many of us the resources simply aren’t there to recoup or bounce back from those instances. parents die, lose their jobs, get sick and cant work as much, separate, etc at all class and income levels. so like, what are yall tryna say

how many people started out in a “stable” two income home, and after life happened hard and fast, ended up with only one parent/income or even none of those things? so like what should you do in that instance, delete the kids??

financial stability is not a static state of being for most people. you can be stable today and have the rug pulled from under you and your investments tomorrow… i think thats a big missing piece in this discourse about having kids and not having money

Fun times ahead for designers. Today, if you open a PSD (even one that's 20 years old) with an obscure PANTONE colour, it will remove the colour and make it black. Pantone want US$21/month for access, and Solid Coated goes behind the paywall in early November.
