Almost all my time is now focused on accountability work in Ukraine, but this was an important story I didn't see anywhere else.

There is a huge amount of scope to apply that kind of accountability work to what is happening in the wider Israel-Palestine context.

I wanted to contextualise this, to show that behind each ruined building, each demolished minaret, each pile of rubble, there is a decision and an action which has been carried out by a specific unit or person.

I have broken my own rule about not posting to Twitter for this story, but I feel this is an important subject.

Too often, the overwhelming scope of violence in Gaza can result in desensitization to the fields of rubble that you see in news reports.

We tracked an IDF combat engineering unit as they moved across Gaza, using social media and satellite imagery to build a picture of where they went, what they demolished and why.

By their own count, they destroyed hundreds of homes.
