Check out our new paper #OA in Journal of Vegetation Science
on foredune recovery along 500km of SE-US coastline following Hurricane Irma. Plant diversity and key engineers showed opposing latitudinal gradients. FL dunes more dependent on plant diversity than assumed. tinyurl.com/33cxzk6b
As someone who is primarily interested in #coastal plants and algae, I've never really been 'in' to birds much. Yet, I realise that I've had a very #bird -y year after getting a #telephoto lens, and have loved watching and #photographing their beauty and vibrant #personalities !
As UK Unis under increasing financial pressure, seeing more & more papers unavailable as they drop journal subs to save money. Apparently no longer sub to NatureEcoEvo... Part broken HE systemποΈ, but bolsters my commitment to never publish in paywall journals πΈπΈ w/limit access
What a year! It's been a huge year on the BEF-Scale project - observational studies *almost* complete & huge disturbance-recovery #experiment across NE #atlantic area. So proud of our whole team, and our collabs! John Griffin Dan Smale Pippa Moore Michael Burrows Ruby George
Everyone has worked so hard getting this going, but I'm really excited to see how recovery occurs over exposure, temperature and latitudinal gradients! #Science #ecology #biodiversity #experiments π
After 9 straight days of #work (due to spring #tides ) we have our first full day off today! I'm #excited to get out and see the #wildlife #orkney has to offer (and not just from working on the #shore like the #smorgasbird of photos below ππ¦ποΈ #birdphotography #nature #WildIsles
Just been into Swansea for a film this evening, parked in a council P&D for 3hr 5 mins, and horror it cost Β£10. On Friday (& every day before) it cost Β£2. Absolute gouge and likely kill business. Haven't lessons been learned from the death of town centres Swansea Council?
