Local governments in Florida were considering heat stress protections for outdoor workers. Lobbyists for the Florida Chamber of Commerce worked with state lawmakers to preempt these life saving protections from being enacted with this bill that also affects living wage laws.

Much of this bill was originally written by lobbyists for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, which represents large employers (and campaign contributors) like Publix Super Markets, U.S. Sugar Corp. and Universal Studios.
