Voila!

A couple of unelected mid-level bureaucrats have now legally muzzled a $2 trillion dollar company from telling Congress that DOJ is collecting the detailed comms records of attorneys for and Members of its oversight committees.

1. AUSA cuts-and-pastes the requirements from the relevant statute and DOJ policy.

2. Submits boilerplate form simply asserting that the DOJ met the requirements.

3. Magistrate checks-the-boxes and rubber-stamps the paper work, no questions asked.

They didn’t even charge him with lying ABOUT THE LEAK. He only pled guilty to lying about his relationship with a journalist.

If they could prove he leaked the FISA application, why didn’t they?

Among possible explanations: a trial could expose the DOJ’s own improper tactics.

The Carter Page FISA leak was so important the DOJ secretly subpoenaed phone calls and emails of Congress. But when they found the leaker, they charged a measly lying to the FBI and he got only 2 months. Seems they cared more about spying on the people investigating the DOJ.
