Colorado is among the very worst states relying on mass punishment (11th).

This year, the Colorado Department of Corrections budget exceeded $1 BILLION, each year. That does not include the costs of county jails or the many other costs of all this punishment.

We stripped a year away from this young father’s life for simple drug possession, and it ended up being a death sentence. Unimaginable.

This is me at 11 years old. I am always surprised when opponents come out in force to have kids this young charged with crimes rather than just given support. I get it is scary to try something new, but the fear-mongering shouldn't drown out the research.

This is me at 10! At this age, I would have never been able to understand the “intentions” of the JJ system. It would have ruined me. Let’s follow the research and give kids support.
