In the Rahm Emanuel approach to crisis, I've learned a lot about the Port of Baltimore, longshoremen & the Port trucking industry. Listen to this great Marketplace story on the MD Department of Labor Worker Retention Program, which has helped keep workers on the job: marketplace.org/2024/04/29/a-b…

Please read this story

This story exemplifies how D.C. gov puts a policy best practice in place--but only partially. Housing is key to solving homelessness, but Staci needs behavioral health & other social services to live well by herself & with neighbors. No mention of this.

In all honesty, I told Ankit Jain several times he should put his efforts into other offices.

But this guy is relentless, & he cares greatly about DC statehood, and that kind of principled political will and determination is exactly what we need in DC politics.

Vote for him.

I lost a lot of blood working on DC's law banning many noncompetes & big $ big biz opportunity-dc.org vowed to exact revenge. They did--with a big $$ smear campaign against me

But my solace is that if U.S. Chamber wins its fight FTC, DC workers are still protected by DC law

After almost getting in a collision with an 18 wheeler, spilling my coffee all over the chocolates I bought for Passover, I arrived at the Dundalk Port of Baltimore terminal to help workers sign up for the new Worker Support Program, putting $$ in their pockets until Port reopens

I also think DC voters want their taxpayer dollars spent more effectively & efficiently toward specific goals & good outcomes. I wish there was an equal advocacy effort around this, but that would require government transparency and oversight. At least I can say I tried my best.

Living in DC, the Key Bridge collapse is a news story. Sitting at a restaurant in Highlandtown last night waiting for family, the 2 people at the table behind me worked at Dundalk terminals. This disaster impacts their lives, not just delivery of their car to Ourisman Bethesda.

I’m happy to report the challenge against our petitions was dismissed and we are on the ballot. Some people didn't want an independent voice in this seat. If you want an independent, pragmatic progressive as your Shadow Senator, I hope you’ll vote for me on June 4th

I'm excited that my office released this new online tool!

Normally, it's hard to find DC tax data going back more than a year or two.

Now, for the first time, we have collected it all in one place. And you can tell some pretty interesting stories with it!

WHAT THE HECK: In 2022, I lowered taxes for DC businesses with a severe slash of paid leave tax & now Mayor Muriel Bowser is raising the tax bigtime to the tune of $246 million as a slush fund for her budget!

This is your mayor DC Chamber/Federal City Council
Shameful. What a sucker punch.

Tomorrow morning I'll be in a parking lot near the Port of Baltimore helping International Longshoremen Association union members and other Port workers impacted by the Key Bridge collapse figure out Unemployment Insurance.

Hard to believe I am in this fire drill again.

With DC government, it's always hard to figure out what is an April Fool's post and what is reality. Unfortunately, it is always reality.

To sum up: Bullies are running DC's tax commission, displaying behavior that would be condemned on any school yard nowadays. I wish this was an aberration, but it is behavior found in the executive and legislative branches too. We need more people who care about good gov & policy

This terrible tragedy is a reminder about how fragile life and systems are. The Key Bridge collapse impacts lives and livelihoods, as lives might be lost, the Port of Baltimore will not be able to operate normally, cargo will be diverted, which impacts the supply chain, jobs, etc
