Today I hosted a Westminster Hall Debate on the transition to Universal Credit for farmers.

In a FB support group for Farming Families, someone wrote that they couldn’t afford to eat that day. This just isn’t ok. We urgently need a review on accessing universal credit.

This is the issue: farmers only receive some 5% of the value of the food chain, but shoulder almost all the (escalating) risk & frequently lose money whilst other players increase their margins & make billions in profit.

It’s unsustainable.
