Can we talk at some point about the managers who state there, suddenly, is a risk of £35million deficit? Like, how terribly have you been managing that you didn't see a £35 million deficit coming? Or did you see it coming and failed to do anything about it?

The scale is indeed the thing: each university is using the “sector wide challenges” as an excuse without addressing those challenges.

To treat each closure/redundancy in isolation is dishonest and deflecting: we need a broad readdressing how we organise higher education.

Shifting the blame onto government policy can't hide University of Lincoln, UK's blatant financial mismanagement.

Cutting 220 jobs is unacceptable. Our members are clear, cancel the cuts or face a strike ballot.
