My partner now earns 15k more than I do yearly. We are the same age. He works 37 hours a week. He did a 3 year degree paid by his company. He works hard but he gets financially compensated. He is enraged on my behalf that I am paid £19/h as a 4th year doctor.

Consultants: the pay offer referendum closes soon. If we vote to Reject the offer because we think it should be more, we must be prepared to strike about it.

Strike action has brought us this far (remember 'No more talks'?) and The BMA will organise more if that's what's needed.

There are many of us.

The new generation of doctors is built differently.

We work hard and are not afraid to ask for what we deserve!

Natalya Deen Junior Doctors Respectfully, this is rather an ignorant comment.

How has having a high earning partner got anything to do with my own finances?

Financial planning is unlikely to help if I get paid poorly with other responsibilities attached (you don't know what these are)

Naomi Warner Natalya Deen Junior Doctors This is it.

I am just trying to cover the bare minimum required.

When there is an emergency cost, I quickly realise ghosh I am really not financially 'cushioned' as a doctor at all.

Natalya Deen Dr Tanya Junior Doctors Agreed, I was still using my overdraft I had from university as a 13th year doctor and that was without 100k debt. It’s not about poor financial planning at all. But to cover two people working shifts and some weeks close to 100hours a lot of childcare is needed

Natalya Deen Dr Tanya Junior Doctors Why would you assume a high earning partner should/would subsidise? Also, this doctor is not alone. It wasn’t until my 5/6th year as a doctor that I could afford to save anything, by time I’d paid med student loan, alongside my standard expenses, and mandatory exams and courses.

Honestly, went through some previous job offers for other options again and started to seriously consider leaving.

After bills and emergency expenses came out, I'm sodding broke again. A whole 200 in the negative.

I can't believe saying this as a 4th year doctor. AGAIN.

Pay us Junior Doctors what we are worth.

Year after year the NHS leaders have presided over deteriorating conditions and patient harm.

The NHS leaders have failed and now they’re closing ranks with the government to throw doctors under the bus during our biggest whistleblowing exercise.

The NHS hates doctors.

The first is that international flows of staff are imbalanced.

Most staff recruited from overseas return to work in their origin countries (or leave for a third country), and a significant portion of UK-trained staff leave.

Outflows exceed inflows: it’s a leaky pipe.

NEW: we need to talk about NHS staff retention.

At a time when Britain’s healthcare system is acutely short of workers, *1 in 7* UK-trained doctors are practising overseas. No other developed country is like this, which immediately tells you there’s a problem.

The BMA Dr Tony Goldstone Amanda Pritchard NHS England As a senior consultant was considering voting yes but combination of younger colleagues thoughts and the government’s disingenuous media response has changed my mind. Please all consider and vote. The BMA James Shelton

Patrick Branchfield Hey mate. How much student debt do you have? Because I have £107,000. Also that's at 6% linked to RPI and inflation. My 'apprenticeship' is bankrupting me. Please oh wise doctor can you explain to me how I'm meant to pay this off on my apprenticeship salary?
