I’m grateful to the Holy Spirit for keeping a canonical record of doubt in the post-resurrection narratives. It's deeply encouraging to me and, I imagine, to many others. It's a reminder that God meets us in the *middle* of our doubts, not despite them:

Yes. Maybe. It depends. But also what might be lost in our idealistic deep-dive into the “pure” digital world?

“The inefficiencies of the physical world, so the sales pitch goes, can be ironed out in a virtual one and then reflected back onto reality.”

The Psalms as antidote to workaholism:

'Passages like Psalm 127 invite us to sit with a foundational truth we ignore at our peril: the work is God’s...God is the builder, the watchman, the healer, the artist, the nurturer, the explorer, the cleaner.'

Earthquakes, the darkening of the sun, mandarin-ball-sized hail falling in our back yard, wars and rumors of wars, along with the rise of the machines: it’s apocalyptic season, y’all.

Solar eclipses have captured the imaginations of artists and curious minds since early human history—at least since the first time one was allegedly predicted in 585 BCE by Greek philosopher Thales of Miletus. Here are a few from our collection:

Tetelestai. It is finished. Our life‘s possessions have been fully transferred into our forever home after five years of in-limbo life. This is the crew that did it, and I told them that I wanted a picture for the memory books, because I’d never ever be moving again in my life.🙌🏻

This is the beginning of the end of a four-year-long house construction project. It’s been so much winter and never Christmas, but I think Christmas is about to arrive. 🎅🎅🎅

I love how the composer John Williams hopes he's remembered after he's gone. It's such a refreshingly un-fussy sense of self:

“If I could be remembered as someone who did his job well and remembered as a good solid musician, I would rest very happily.”

Amen:

“The entire universe is waiting to be written about, welcoming, opening its doors to reflection and understanding or attempts to enter mystery, even the disturbances of violence and ugliness and falsehood and broken promises.' -- Luci Shaw

What's the lesson of failure or rejection? You don't give up. You keep pressing forward, even if you don't know where it'll end up.

'If the “lesson” was to ease back on the complexity or the weirdness of something, I don’t want to learn that lesson.'

Today's Wednesday, also known as 'Woden's Day.' It's the day that we get to celebrate the wildly wonderful world of God. Lord, in your mercy, let it be.

On the art of a rejection letter via Toni Morrison.

While rejection is native territory for artists, when given well, it can result in fruitful growth.

“Morrison’s rejections tend to be long, generous in their suggestions, and direct in their criticism.”

I so appreciate Luci Shaw's hard-won wisdom as an elder saint and advocate for younger artists:

'As a younger person I wondered what it was like to grow old. No one wanted to talk about it; there seemed to be a conspiracy of silence...' Image
