Hartlepool Borough Council Now that you've begun charging blue badge holders to park in many of your car parks are you going to do your duty to make sure all gates on public footpaths are passable for larger mobility scooters? The ones at Seaton Common aren't passable. Pls retweet for me.

A few images from the West Pacific Odyssey as we reached the Izu Islands of Japan. The endemic Ijima's Leaf-warbler, Izu Thrush and Izu Robin, whilst Streaked Shearwaters were common offshore.

A couple of iconic seabirds seen on the West Pacific Odyssey. New Zealand Storm-petrel, believed extinct since 1850 but refound in Hauraki Gulf in 2003. Beck's Petrel, after just two specimens in 1928/9, it was conclusively rediscovered off New Ireland in 2007.

Well, it'd be rude not to... Quick visit to Hartlepool this afternoon to see the first Dark-eyed Junco for the county.

A few storm-petrels from the West Pacific Odyssey. Matsudaira's and Tristrams from the Bonin Islands, one of an unprecedented number of Leach's (almost as far south as New Ireland), and a more widespread Wilson's.

The Japanese island of Torishima was one of the highlights of the West Pacific Odyssey. An active volcano, it is home to the bulk of the world population of Short-tailed (plus a good few Black-footed Albatross).

A great few days in New Zealand cleaning up on most North Island endemics. Highlights of 2 Kiwi species, fantastic experience to watch them appear at dusk. Now on to the Heritage Adventurer for a month of seabirding with wildwings and Mark Harper
