I went to visit Lough Funshinagh with a local last Autumn. It's a disaster, but largely because the local authority decided to ignore environmental regulations

Least you think small fishing boats can do no harm - dredging for razor clams involved dragging a cage across the sea floor and pumping water into the sand to eject all the life. We are told that 'most dredge
effort is by vessels <12m', i.e. small boats. But this needs to stop

I would like to see an end to *all* trawling and dredging within 6nm of the coast, regardless of boat size. This will give the best chance for marine life recovery.

Please make a submission, it only takes 5mins

Today MEPs will vote on whether to rush through removing nature protection from the EU's farm rules

Without healthy nature, farmers have no future

The EU & governments must tackle the trade deals and market monopolies pushing farmers out of business

The EU is planning to ditch all pretense of action on the environment for its next term. The only way to counter this is if citizens make sure to vote for green candidates in June's elections.

Farmers need our help in adapting to rapidly changing climate conditions and the impact of biodiversity collapse. But the stream of unconditional bailouts only maintains business as usual, I don't see public support for this.

Surveys show that nearly everyone thinks nature is important and should be protected... YET when even a modest effort is made to actually do something, it triggers a backlash unprecedented in EU history. Some people are lying to the survey people!

It is very welcome to see projects like this getting off the ground although its very late in the day, we still don't have a river basin plan designed to address wider issues and climate change is moving so much faster than our small efforts to-date

According to the Minister for Agriculture, Charlie McConalogue, sheep maintain 'high-quality habitats and species-rich biodiversity' in our uplands.

Say, what???

It's actually the very opposite. Here's the reality: ecological deadzones.

Honestly, between turning a blind eye to genocide in Gaza and throwing in the towel on the Green Deal Ursula von der Leyen has brought only shame to the EU

You think Big Oil is bad? Wait till you meet Big Meat.

They have done a masterful job of distracting us from curbing food waste and red meat consumption (which we absolutely need to do).

Instead, they shift our attention towards greenwashing tropes.
