Well worth a read this from Aileen McHarg @[email protected]. The Continuity Bill and UNCRC Bill references still cast a long shadow on the limits of the devolved legislatures' powers.

Interested to see there's another piece coming on this in Public Law as well.

3 observations.

By law, judicial members of JAC cannot be a majority.

The LCJ, by law, can’t sit on a panel to select next LCJ and can only nominate 1 of the 5 panel members.

The Lord Chancellor still has the power to reject or require reconsideration of the panel’s selection.

An addendum to this:

Some are saying this would never have happened with the judicial House of Lords.

Except there are business plans for teams all over Parliament.

And the Judicial Office for E&W also has an annual business plan. This is as it were “industry standard”.

The framework regulating the UK’s internal market is fundamentally not the same as the EU single market it has replaced.

If they don’t find a way to make this a geometry problem question in the Higher Maths paper this year the SQA frankly deserves to be abolished.

Went to Sainsbury’s to stock up on discounted sugar ovals this morning and the stock and variety was… really low.

There are four year old toddlers on this planet with a drastically better grasp of due process and the rule of law than Kenny Miller.
