iPhone : These words give me a lot of comfort, and a lot of strength. I needed to read it tonight. Maybe it will help you too. Logging off now. twitter.com/yumcoconutmilk…

iPhone : “More than lungs that have yet to draw free air. More than your life-holding womb and your life-giving private parts, hear me now, love your heart. For this is the prize.” — Toni Morrison, “Beloved” (7/7)

iPhone : “So love your neck; put a hand on it, grace it, stroke it and hold it up. and all your inside parts that they'd just as soon slop for hogs, you got to love them. The dark, dark liver--love it, love it and the beat and beating heart, love that too. More than eyes or feet. (6/7)

iPhone : Flesh that needs to be loved. Feet that need to rest and to dance; backs that need support; shoulders that need arms, strong arms I'm telling you. And O my people, out yonder, hear me, they do not love your neck unnoosed and straight. (5/7)

iPhone : “What you say out of it they will not heed. What you scream from it they do not hear. What you put into it to nourish your body they will snatch away and give you leavins instead. No, they don't love your mouth. You got to love it. This is flesh I'm talking about here. (4/7)

iPhone : “Touch others with them, pat them together, stroke them on your face 'cause they don't love that either. You got to love it, you! And no, they ain't in love with your mouth. Yonder, out there, they will see it broken and break it again. (3/7)

iPhone : “Yonder they flay it. And O my people they do not love your hands. Those they only use, tie, bind, chop off and leave empty. Love your hands! Love them. Raise them up and kiss them. (2/7)

iPhone : “In this here place, we flesh; flesh that weeps, laughs; flesh that dances on bare feet in grass. Love it. Love it hard. Yonder they do not love your flesh. They despise it. They don't love your eyes; they'd just as soon pick em out. No more do they love the skin on your back.1/7

iPhone : A lot of y’all called me a “privileged cunt” for that COVID stole my twenties article but THIS is the shit I mean. I shouldn’t be here. We shouldn’t be here. None of us deserve this.

iPhone : Plus, I don’t have the privilege of doing that. Because all that is, is looking away. None of this ends just because I decide I want it too.

iPhone : I want to stay home. I want to eat and laugh on the phone with my friends all day. I want to not have to think about masks and hand sanitizer and mutual aid. I want to stay inside until COVID passes.

But my soul just won’t let me do that. I can’t sit this one out.

iPhone : I also realize that I’m not alone. Almost everyone in the country is feeling some of what I’m feeling, and I’d bet that every Black person is feeling it too.

iPhone : But in moments like these I remind myself that it would be dangerous if I WASN’T scared, or overwhelmed. My fear, in many ways, keeps me safe.

iPhone : There’s so much going on and so many ways I want to help and so many areas where I feel like I’m failing and so much that I’m scared of... like terrified.

iPhone : You should not feel bad if you’ve decided to stay home because of COVID-19. This is a dangerous time to go to the grocery store, let alone participate in mass protest.

BUT

If you are staying home, figure out another way you can help thi revolution directly.

iPhone : There ARE Nazis inciting chaos. And there are overeager white Leftists whose actions put POC in danger. But there are also grieving Black people tearing down institutions that oppress them, redistributing resources kept from them.

It's all being twisted to fit dif narratives. twitter.com/BigMeanInterne…

iPhone : Lastly, DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU FEEL ILL. Take your temp before you leave the house if you can and if you have a fever STAY HOME.
