The knife was recovered at the scene. No officers or bystanders were injured.

Bystanders yelled to warn the sergeant. The sergeant turned to face the suspect who charged at him, still holding the knife resulting in an officer-involved shooting. The suspect was struck by gunfire & taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

Today around 2:50 pm, Central Div officers were in the area of 6th & San Pedro conducting an investigation from an earlier radio call. A sergeant was standing near a police vehicle when the suspect approached, holding an open & extended knife with a 3 1/2” blade.
