UK Health Security Agency We know 1.2 million + immunocompromised who get zero vaccine protection are struggling to live

Year 5 STILL SHIELDING IS CALLOUS

2% of Popn = 25-28% all covid ICU & deaths!

Get some interim results & order Evusheld 2 like France

life is impossible for us 💔

Please 🙏 NICE 🙏Victoria Atkins Rishi Sunak
Don’t make us wait for SIPAVIBART in U.K. till no longer effective like you did with Evusheld - so cruel when given free in USA and many other countries. We deserve better after waiting 4 years.

1/x *** New Research ***. 😀What can be done to protect immunocompromised patients? New press release from AstraZeneca. astrazeneca.com/media-centre/p…, and it's about a therapy called Sipavibart, the successor to Evusheld.

2/x. What is the background? Some individuals in our community are more prone to infections, they are called immunocomromised. There are ~ 500,000-1.5M with these conditions. When they get infections, they can fight it less well. 🙄 And the pandemic hit, this was a problem.

3/x It includes renal transplant patients, primary immunodeficiencies, those with cancer & blood cancers, kidney disease, and those with primary immunodeficiencies. It's a fair number. Most doctors want to protect these patients from infectious diseases by what ever means 😇

4/x In 2021, for those that didn't get enough protection from their COVID-19 vaccines, most countries gave additional protection to those patients, by an antibody, called Evusheld. It helped over that winter and reduced severity of infectious for many many people. 👍

5/x Whilst most companies stopped developing protective drugs. One manufacturer kept going, and they did all the trials required. The trial in immunocompromised patients was called SUPERNOVA.

6/x Run at 197 trials, the updated drug, called SIPAVIBART is reported to have 'statistically significant reduction in the incidence of symptomatic COVID‑19 compared to control'

7/x The data is just a press release, and not all numbers are available. However, my expert US friend Prof Haidar, Ghady Haidar MD notes 'sipavibart has the potential to provide much-needed protection against COVID-19 in this highly vulnerable population.”

8/x What do I think? I'd like to see more data.... however, I am cautiously positive. For vulnerable patients wishing to access new therapies to boost their immune defences against COVID-19, this could be it.

9/x. The challenge is whether patients in the UK will be able to get it in 2024, or should we be planning for for some time in 2030 again? 😇 Some countries always have their patients at the front of the line for protective therapies. 😝

11/x. Sorry for the gap, with the X rebrand, I had reduced faith in twitter, though this was something I wanted to tweet about. Do tell me how you are feeling about this info.

One of the key findings was that those who were shielding others were experiencing 'vicarious' health anxiety, excessive worry about the vulnerable person they were . We recommended adapted evidence-based interventions. See below for more 👇
