Thank you Sen. Maria Cantwell and Richard Blumenthal for holding these important hearings. We welcome the additional scrutiny of these recent events by Congress, the FAA, and the NTSB. We must always remain vigilant and look for ways to do better.

Our union has built a global network of resources for over 90 years that our pilots were able to utilize as the recent attacks in Israel began to unfold. We commend United Airlines Pilots and Air Canada ALPA Pilots for their quick action that got ALPA crew members out of Tel Aviv safely.

Bakers, airline pilots, electricians –– no matter your profession, all workers should have the right to organize, have a say in their workplace and have access to all the benefits a union can provide. I stand with #HFSWorkersUnited and their efforts to unionize with BCTGM International.

Now is not the time to introduce uncertainty into the safest aviation system in the world as pilot production continues at a record pace and hiring is slowing down.

As we have been saying, the system is working. The data continues to demonstrate that America does not have a pilot supply problem. We have more than enough qualified pilots.

Automation can fail; it regularly has problems. Then pilots have to intervene. As bargaining moves forward, Air Line Pilots Association is focused on assuring language prohibiting single-pilot operations on the flight deck is included in every contract.

A big thank you to all our secretary-treasurers. As a former MEC secretary, I understand the commitment it takes and the importance of the work these volunteers do, which helps our union maintain a strong financial foundation and helps achieve our line pilots’ strategic goals.

It’s great to work with NASA to continue to make aviation safer, and it was a pleasure to talk with Akbar Sultan about the work the Airspace Operations and Safety Program is doing to make the future of flying safer.

This is a huge step forward for WestJet Encore ALPA Pilots on their path to achieve a new contract. Once again, the power of unity made the difference, and Air Line Pilots Association was there to support them every step of the way.

We will utilize the extensive resources of our union to support Spirit ALPA MEC pilots who will be impacted by these furloughs, including working with other airline managements to provide employment or preferential interviews at ALPA-represented carriers. alpa.org/resources/furl…

Retaliatory actions like these from managements are one of the many reasons our union is advocating for congressional passage of the #PROAct . All workers deserve fair opportunities to negotiate for better working conditions, wages, and a more secure retirement –– without fear.

Our union stands in solidarity with the iAero pilots and has been working hard to assist them since their airline filed for bankruptcy in Sept. 2023. We'll continue providing them assistance in finding other opportunities at ALPA properties and beyond.

Whether you’re on the rails or in the sky, safety should always be the top priority. We are extremely encouraged by the decision to mandate two-person crews on trains, which reaffirms the truth that safety demands at least two-person crews at all times. #SafetyStartsWith2

Airline pilots shouldn’t have to choose between seeking the help they need and the career they love. We applaud the FAA for convening this rulemaking committee & are proud to have cochaired the panel. We stand ready to continue this important work using this report as a roadmap.

This is the union difference –– thanks to the strong contract United Airlines Pilots negotiated, no pilot can be forced to take this company offered leave and they maintain the ability to have a choice over their schedule and work-life balance.

The system is working as intended, we’re producing more than enough #pilots , and we’re experiencing the safest period in U.S. #aviation history, thanks in large part to the highly trained pilots on every flight.

ALPA’s volunteers are the heart and soul of the Association. Without them, our union doesn’t move forward and doesn’t earn the success that we’ve achieved. Everything that Air Line Pilots Association makes possible for our pilots and the industry is thanks to our volunteers.
