Grateful to be a panelist for this workshop later today! I’m especially excited to hear from the other speakers and panelists on DEI in mentorship as I’m thinking through best practices for setting up my own lab in the Fall!

If your experience was just overall “great” and totally unaffected by the fact that a non-scientific Islamophobic poster was scheduled to be presented at spsp, it says a lot abt your privileges and how you choose to not care about your Muslim colleagues and friends …

I spoke with an undergrad student today who went to SPSP and was considering social psych. This student does not want to do social psych now because Society for Personality and Social Psychology didn't bother to address this until after the conference. This is direct harm to our colleagues, students, and field.

This is disgusting. Why on earth was this poster accepted in the first place??! How did this blatant Islamophobia even get through the review process?

Eagerly awaiting Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s detailed explanation for how a poster this profoundly offensive and scientifically worthless — created by a person whose writings were cited in a race-targeted mass murder! — found its way onto the conference schedule.

This is yet another example of a consistent pattern many of us are observing and noting. Simply deleting the session doesn’t change the systemic dehumanization of Muslim people in psychology. Shame.

Been a bit since I've been here, but if anyone is at who I met/connected with last year, I'd love to grab coffee, a drink, or whatever with ya if our schedules allow! Just feel free to message me! Excited for another amazing year at SPSP!

Would love to see my academic moots who are attending this year at our intersectionality reception on Friday at 5:30 pm and our intersectionality panel/roundtable discussion on Saturday at 1:45 pm that my amazing collaborators Ben Valen, M.S. (they/he) 🏳️‍🌈 and Annalisa Myer and I created!

As you may have heard, Tica Hall Dr. Tica Hall died yesterday. We were so lucky to have had this extra time with her.

Tica was an amazing mentor.

If you can, donate to these awards which support outstanding sleep science & trainees in her honor:
