Ambassador Carlos Vasquez, APEC 2024 SOM Chair, shared the outcomes of SOM 1 and previews SOM2, the Trade Ministers Meeting as well as the High Level Policy Dialogue on Women and the Economy. At SOM2 also ABAC members will have a dialogue with Trade Ministers.

I also met with colleagues at World Economic Forum. We talked about priorities and explored potential areas for future collaboration. I’m heading back to Singapore now as we prepare for the upcoming ABAC meetings in Hong Kong and the second cluster of #APECPeru2024 meetings in the coming weeks.

Above all, collectively pushing for a conducive #trade environment to advance a more #sustainable , #inclusive , and resilient growth that will benefit people without further damaging the planet.

We heard from delegates exchanging ideas and perspectives on how businesses, including APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), could help support the work of the WTO, digital and paperless trade, and tackling climate and food security issues.

I’m in Geneva this week for a series of meetings with members of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and WTO. Over the last few days, we had many engaging discussions between ABAC members, APEC ambassadors as well as WTO DG Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Deputy DDGS, Ms Angela Paolini Ellard & Ms Johanna Hill.
