One of the places most associated with this time of year is Beltany Stone Circle in Donegal, as its name is thought to derive from An Bhealtaine.

This monument is set high on a Donegal hilltop with extensive views over the surrounding landscape.

The Swearing Stone • Castledermot • Kildare

One of the cross slabs found at the early monastic site in Castledermot is known as the 'Swearing Stone', and bears a hole in it through which it was traditionally believed that oaths could be sworn by the shaking of hands.

This is a wonderful time of year for a walk in an Irish wood. The air is full of the scent of wild garlic, and the bluebells are magical!

We visited a lovely local spot at Mountain Grove in County Kilkenny this morning.

Do you have a favourite place for bluebells?

Labbacallee is Ireland’s largest example of a wedge tomb.

The name Labbacallee derives from Leaba Chaillí, that can be roughly translated to ‘The Hag’s Bed’. Archaeologists discovered the remains of an adult woman, male and child within the tomb. All dating between 2456–1776 BC
