Is it okay to refer to someone's medical school as their university? I.e my friend went to Birmingham med school but could I say she went to Birmingham University to study medicine. Or is that wrong/annoying?

*Unpaid parental leave* is a thing worth knowing about.

Up to 4 weeks off/yr (total of 18 until the child is 18)

This is a statutory right but the timing of the leave needs to be negotiated with your employer
