After chairing an opening session yesterday of Fire Brigades Union National School II , it’s been a pleasure to listen to Stiofán from TrademarkBelfast tell delegates about the history of world economics and its importance to workers.

New: extraordinary council meeting to discuss whether the west unitary councillors still have confidence in leader Jonathan Nunn following new domestic abuse allegations will happen on May 9. There is no legal effect to the vote and perhaps won’t get to that if further

West Northants Council say extraordinary meeting is scheduled to take place on Thursday 9th May at the Guildhall in Northampton. The meeting has been called by chairman following Cllr Ian McCord’s request which has received support from 8 elected members.

We need close partnership working across 999 services, and I will always strive to deliver that as PCC - however the Police and Fire services are very different and should have their own distinct governance and accountability arrangements.

I’ve been asked several times whether I think the Leics Police Commissioner should also have oversight of the Fire & Rescue Service, as is the case in some areas.

My response: no.

I do not think that should happen and it’s not something I have any interest in pursuing.

Adam Taylor FBU Northamptonshire FBU Nottinghamshire Seems like the Tories have. I remember having a meeting with him about how he was spending his budget and my concerns that it should only be spent on the service he was responsible for.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) should be referring itself for turning a blind eye to the inappropriate mis following of legislation with the NorthantsOPFCC handling of chief fire officer appointment.

The Crown Prosecution Service perhaps may have been interested in that.

Brendan, you might not know that the provision of paid trade union facility time was made possible by a Conservative government in 1992.

If you did, then it might look like you were trying to distract people from the mess the Tories have made. But we know you wouldn’t do that.

There are very sound arguments as to why democracy is diminished when you have exclusive ‘gentleman’s clubs’ for politicians, senior civil servants, judges & the rest.

It also sounds like the sort of night out you’d gnaw your right arm off to avoid.
