We are also hoping to improve the inclusion of the francafrique through our French abstracts. We accept French submissions. Currently, these are translated into English before publication. We have bigger dreams for the languages we publish in; this is one step toward them.

We are so grateful for our team of Associate Editors - many new; some old - who are helping us to realise these various aspirations for Africa Spectrum. I shudder to think what we would do without their generous assistance, expertise, and time.

Our debate pieces and analytical reports are peer reviewed in the hope that the authors receive the academic clout they deserve for writing that, often, seeks to disrupt disciplinary biases and oversights. We hope this will help enrich reflections about the continent.

Martha and I have many hopes for our time as the editors of this journal - principally, that Africa Spectrum will continue to be a source of reliable knowledge while also a space for rigorous debate and new voices - especially from the continent.

We revised the geographic focus from sub-Saharan Africa to invite texts from and about Africa as a whole - including North Africa. We hope to see more scholars contributing from this sub-region!
