A bit of Milton Keynes City Council news after the local elections.
Pete Marland remains as party AND Council leader, which means he'll pass 10 years in charge.
And Emily Darlington remains his Deputy.
M/W Lib Dems in St Albans choose Paul de Kort as their new leader replacing Chris White .
Still feeling like a zombie right now (but locals are done so I can tackle that) but in meantime this was a warm hug of a day, debuting for GRACES CRICKET - I even scored a very rare maximum!
Which leaves us with Stevenage Council where Labour would expect to remain in charge. You can follow that one via Maddy McNiven and then Will Durrant picks up things in the Herts PCC contest tomorrow, with Thames Valley region also giving results, which includes MK and Bucks tomorrow.
And here’s the first thoughts from Bedfordshire’s new PCC John Tizard after his election earlier today.
With Stevenage/St Albans still to declare, BBC Beds, Herts & Bucks narrative is similar to last year.
Tories lose 28 seats (inc Beds PCC) with Labour gaining 16 (inc Beds PCC) & Lib Dems 13.
After a great 2023, Greens have so far gained just 1 seat out of 116 candidates. #LocalElections2024
#LocalElections2024 It looks like, despite some gains, Labour won't reach the magic 26 to have full control of North Herts Council but will be largest party. Full results expected soon, follow Will Durrant for more on that one.
#LocalElections2024 Hearing two more results declared now..
In Three Rivers Lib Dems hold, but has lost a seat to Greens, so has a majority of three.
Plus in Milton Keynes, Labour now have enough seats for full control of council there for first time in 18 years.
Its been a bad morning for Conservatives in Welwyn Hatfield. A year ago they were largest party, now they're the smallest after losing 10 seats. Labour gains most of them, so are largest party, but not for full control. That should mean alliance with Lib dems carries on.
#LocalElections2024 Final scores in Watford Council sees Lib Dems gain 3 seats and Labour 3 losses. That leaves Lib Dems with 30 councillors and Labour on 6.
#LocalElections2024 halfway through in Welwyn Hatfield and Conservatives have lost 7 seats of the 14 they are defending. That leaves them on course to be smallest party - as recently as this time last year, they had full control in Welwyn.
#LocalElections2024 Watford Council confirmed as a Lib Dem hold with four seats to declare. They've made a couple of gains from Labour too. They were always going to retain control as only 12 seats were up for grabs.
