Welp. Great way to start #ArabAmericanHeritageMonth by getting an email saying my author visit was canceled because some parents said one of titles of my books (The Great Banned-Books Bake Sale) was controversial.

2nd grade students read The Arabic Quilt by Aya Khalil. They created a paper quilt to show their uniqueness(pics coming). These 2 chose to read the book in their free time because the enjoyed the book so much! Thanks for writing the book Aya Khalil!

My debut pb, The Arabic Quilt, illustrated by Anait Semirdzhyan has been out for THREE years, has sold 80,000+ copies, won numerous awards/honors & literally changed my life. Just a reminder that our stories matter & to keep persisting because at one point it almost died on submission!
