Think a very popular policy that would actually be enough on its own to get a party elected would be a bank holiday weather rollover. If the Monday in question (it’s always a Monday) is rainy then we get the next available Monday off until there’s a dry one

This is really very silly. 'Exploration' in this sense means using geological data to estimate the likelihood that there will be oil and gas under an offshore wind licenced area. It doesn't mean that this move will lead to additional production. /1 theguardian.com/environment/ar…

There is a lot that’s weird about this community note - but most importantly it sets a very low bar for the things you might need notes for during an election. Which in turn probably devalues the notes and renders them less useful when someone says something egregiously wrong

Next week (Friday, March 15th) is fifth anniversary of Christchurch mosque massacre in New Zealand: 51 people killed after going to pray

A reminder of danger of extremism + terrorism. And of political responsibility to not heighten atmosphere + threat when addressing extremisms

Jeremy Hunt announced another round of tax cuts today - most notably another £10 billion cut to national insurance, just in time for the next election.

Enjoy it while you can: history teaches us that taxes have a strange tendency to go up straight after elections...
