The Liberal Democrats have announced a very welcome commitment to increasing research funding for the less survivable cancers.

This has been one of the key calls for the Taskforce, increasing research funding to improve treatments and outcomes for these six cancers.

Today, we've spoken about the less survivable cancers facing particularly poor outcomes in the UK.

Everyone with one of these cancers deserves the best and fastest possible treatment.

Out of 33 countries of comparable wealth and income levels, the UK ranks as low as:

▶️ 28th for stomach cancer
▶️ 28th for lung cancer
▶️ 26th for pancreatic cancer
▶️ 25th for brain cancer
▶️ 21st for liver cancer
▶️ 16th for oesophageal cancer

The chance of someone surviving for five years after diagnosis is only 16%.
