Female nurses have the highest suicide risk of any healthcare professional.

Nursing is a low resource, high demand profession with poor pay, conditions and respect.

Female nurses are also more likely to suffer domestic violence at home & sexual harassment at work.

Says a great deal about the wider attitude to MH. Refer staff to any source other than an expert front door. Let’s face it, institutional stigma is a problem for patients so no surprise it is a feature of how we treat staff. Penny wise, pound foolish as the adage goes.

These are people who accumulate ridiculous debt and then we treat them with such disrespect. And then we contemplate the mess. This is about getting a grip and valuing our actual assets.

So to wrap up, the official answer is social phobia but I would say the closest is agoraphobia with panic which isn’t an option. IRL none of these diagnoses is going to be correct.

Please don't defund this vital service, NHS England 🙏
