Ms. Vanna Hoang, our newest intern, is a 1st gen student and the oldest daughter of immigrants following the Vietnamese War. She is currently finishing her B.A. in Pol Sci at Sacramento City College and aims to create an international non-profit that provides free education.

It was a true pleasure to witness the swearing-in Shirley Weber, PhD as California's 32nd Secretary of State. Dr. Weber is also the 1st African-American Secretary of State and only the 5th African-American to serve as a state constitutional officer in CA’s 170-year history! #Inspired

My newest legislative assistant is Mr. Vincenzo Caporale, a proud Californian from Tulare, California. Following high school, he earned his BA from UC Berkeley and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. Last year he worked as a Legislative Aide for Assemblymember Nazarian.

I hand-delivered my first bill to the Assembly Clerk last week. #AB91 will expand opportunities for higher education so our workforce can meet the growing demands of our binational region. Waiting on dates for committee hearings, stay tuned.

Today I brought a Rosca de Reyes to my District Office staff to celebrate Día de Los Reyes. Inside the cake is a doll symbolizing the hiding of Jesus from King Herod’s troops. The person who gets the doll must make Tamales for Día de la Candelaria next month. Congrats Lilianna!

Our new intern started yesterday, Ms. Fatima Gonzalez-Ruiz. Ms. Gonzalez grew up in Spring Valley, CA together with her 5 brothers. She earned her BSc in Criminology and Justice at San Jose State, and wants to become a social worker. Ms. Gonzalez is excited to intern in #AD80 .

I would like to introduce my new legislative aide, Ms. Cynthia Yepez, a proud daughter of immigrant parents from Salamanca, Guanajuato. She grew up in Bellflower, CA and earned a B.A. in Pol Sci from UC Davis. Last year, Ms. Yepez was a fellow with Senator Susan Rubio. Welcome Cynthia
