I saw our students remain steadfast in their commitment to de-escalation tactics, mutual aid, and teach-ins, even in the face of violence and abuse from outside agitators. They should not be met with police force or arrests.

Earlier today, we marched for May Day to exercise one of the most powerful tools to enact change —the right to peacefully protest. Over the last week, I have witnessed UCLA students exercise this right, practicing a deep commitment to nonviolence.
