Hundreds of UK final year medical students have been told by their foundation schools that they could only get three weeks notice of what hospital and city they will start working in.....🧵

What is the cost if a first-year specialty registrar in psychiatry quits medicine during training? 
 
If there’s 6 months left on their rotation, they will need locum cover (at £68/hour) before a new specialty trainee starts six months later. bma.org.uk/attrition-costs

It remains completely bonkers that the costs doctor attrition are far less than the investment that would reverse these alarming & preventable trends. £20/hr is not an unreasonable ask for Junior Doctors after 5 years of med school & £100k of debt with your life in their hands.

The financial cost to the NHS of doctors leaving the workforce is staggering.

Great to see Junior Doctors advocating for the safe travel of doctors 👏
