Fabulous visit to assistive technology- great to meet Jamie Barnsley Hospital our service user representative and hear how he has inspired so many to have doors opened by the use of assistive technology

Thank you to all the Speech and Language Therapists and members of the multi professional team for your warm welcome Barnsley AT Team. Thank you also for educating me on the work of the Assistive Technology Team. Helen Robinson (she/her) RCSLT 💙
Used this resource from Barnsley AT Team today to conduct a TalkingMats on what a student feels good about doing with his talker. Then thought about what he'd like to do more of - he chose 'making jokes' & 'telling stories' - lots of fun ahead & he loved setting his own goals!
We were also proud to have the fantastic DisabilityPower100 Beth Moulam delivering the closing keynote.
Beth demonstrated the role that #AAC and #AssistiveTech can have and challenged us to go further and faster to ensure services are comprehensive and seamless.
#ProudToShare
That is 100 people from a range of amazing services which support AT and who are motivated to improve how we provide #AssistiveTech and to support as many people to use what can be a life changing technology.
This week is #ProudToShare week at Barnsley Hospital.
A stand out proud moment recently was the #EATSY23 event last week, supported by NHS South Yorkshire .
The event aimed to highlight and discuss how #AssistiveTech services could develop in the region. Over 100 people attended.
ANOTHER fab presentation by Beth Moulam about how #assistivetechnology has enabled her to thrive in education, sport, and life.
A perfect finish to an energetic and positive day in #southyorks #eatsy23 . Lots of strength to build on for great pathways in South Yorkshire ICS Workforce Hub

Great talk from Dr Tom Griffiths 💙💛 @[email protected] and Simon Judge about how professionals use feedback tools when supporting eye gaze as an access method for AAC #CM2023conf Communication Aid Service East of England (CASEE) Often the tools are not used for the purpose intended 🤔 time to pause and think - what’s going on in the ‘black box’?
And just like that, my final placement of my master's is over! Learnt SO much from Barnsley AT Team. Whatever role I go into, I know having a good understanding of AAC will be so important! ✅ Just the clinical viva to go now.... #slt2b Human Communication Sciences | Sheffield
