Over 150,000 voters have seen this post Rishi Sunak Michael Gove - in case you're wondering, I won't be giving up. Us Brits are not prepared to sit back & watch iconic species become nationally extinct when there's a simple brick that can secure their essential nesting habitat.

65 species between Greenhithe and Dartford this morning, biggest surprise being a Brent Goose flying east along the Thames. Also 3 Cuckoos, Peregrine and Whimbrel.

Another superb day highlighted with a new Golden Oriole in the Sammy's and Long Bank Marsh area, 15 Black Terns 'out-east' (highest spring count since 2017) and a stunning male Montagu's Harrier flying south in the afternoon.

On this day 1972 (10 yo) - birding on Fair Isle with my Dad (right). Rustic Bunt., Bluethroats, Icterine Warbl., Red-backed Shr. all wondrously new for me and seen in the hand (caught by Roger Broad & Eric Meek). Changed my life but I haven't been back since. Must remedy that

I had one of the best birding experiences of my life on Lesbos this evening, when this Great Snipe walked out of the reeds right in front of me and proceeded to feed away unbothered by my presence just a few metres away. I'm still buzzing now! With The White Falcon 💙 and Lynnette 💙

Well that’s April done, only left Kent once, briefly to see Woodchat at Beddington. Enjoyable local birding mostly , year list now 203 and most of the expected spring, summer migrants seen. Spot Fly, Tree Pipit, the near mythical Arctic Tern, and scarcer species left. May 🫣🤔🙏

Another walk out to Stoke Lagoon and marshes this afternoon. As usual not a soul out there .Good to see Swifts, Swallows, Ravens with young? Two Greenshank, a SEO, Yellow Wags and two pairs of Stonechat. Another under watched area of Kent and a good site to keep you fit walking

A return visit today to Kennardington (Kent) in cloudy and colder conditions failed to find any of yesterdays Downy Emeralds. I presume we caught the emergence yesterday and now they have dispersed. A couple of Hairy Dragonflies and a nice Large Red Damselfly but little else.
