We need more transparency & auditability into functioning of safety-critical AI systems.
The public are left in the dark about why autonomous vehicles are making the mistakes they are and, crucially, how/if they are learning from these errors.

Lack of open source in AI hinders transparency, making it tough to align industry deployments with public interest.

Case in point: autonomous driving, where limited visibility on AVs' decision-making and learning-from-failures processes raises major safety concerns.

Halloween's AV stories are back, with witches in cone hats circling a Waymo this year! 🤦‍♂️ But let's not forget, these stunts are risky and a real safety hazard.
