This picture has the original white Narcissus in it too, planted back when I was thinking of keeping the border all white and 'tasteful'. The Imperial frits changed all that overnight.

Yes the gardens, nursery and tea room are open today (Good Friday) and tomorrow 10-5. Today we've got Jess and Bethany (her first ever day at work!) in the tea room and Anna (welcome back :-) ) in the nursery with me and Tina. See you soon, we hope. x

Good morning! The gardens, nursery and tea room are open for the 2024 season from 10am today :-) Opening hours 10-5 Wed-Sat (So yes, we're closed Easter Sunday and Monday) Free garden entry this week as it's a bit early yet. But Prunus 'Shirotae' is worth seeing on its own..

The gardens, nursery and tea room re-open for the season on Wednesday 27th March. Open Wed-Sat 10-5 till end Sept (including Good Friday and Easter Saturday). Closed Easter Sunday and Monday.

The first of the Iris reticulata are tentatively opening up in the gravel garden. Such fabulously sumptuous, rich colours in an otherwise sepia landscape.

Hello all! Been a while since we posted on here, but we're back. This witch hazel is always the first plant to flower in the garden (apart from the odd snowdrop). Love the way it glows with the setting sun behind it....

I do love a proper, big transformative project. It's taken almost a year, on and off, even with a JCB, but we're almost there now. Space to grow another 25,000 or so plants at Bluebell Cottage Garden and Nursery

Trip out to Bluebell Cottage Garden and Nursery for some autumn loveliness, followed by a pub lunch & a soggy meander round Grappenhall walled garden where the honesty table yielded a red cabbage & a crown Prince. Now home & in pjs. Because it’s dreich.
