Couldn’t agree this more! Words are building blocks of human languages. We understand words, we learn words, and we use words in countless contexts to express ourselves and communicate with others.

Very interesting paper using network science to analyse late L1 Spanish–L2 English bilinguals’ semantic fluency data, demonstrating that L2 immersion not only led to more interconnected and less modular L2 semantic network, but also weakened the L1 semantic system.
