It has been a successful start to prescribed burning in the Southeast Fire Centre, with nine projects so far this spring. Three burns were conducted in the past week that were visible from the City of Nelson, British Columbia, community of Grasmere, and the City of Kimberley.

A new, dedicated wildfire training centre at Thompson Rivers University will connect future BC wildfire professionals to the training & expertise they need. This first-of-its-kind program will allow students to ladder their skills into diplomas & degrees in wildfire & emergency management.

Equipped with satellite internet capability, this mobile ServiceBC centre can also be deployed into communities to help serve evacuees seeking Emergency Support Services during disasters. An important partnership we're working to further expand as we head into #BCWildfire2024 .

Our Service BC mobile outreach van is saving British Columbians time & travel costs, allowing them to access services in their own communities. Today I had the privilege of touring the van in Victoria, where staff showed off how they can renew driver’s licences on the spot!

Meeting with the engineers of BC today and hearing about the outstanding projects, safe housing for women, sky trains, First Nations infrastructure, all across BC. And Bowinn Ma brought the little one to get her started early on her own engineering career. #bcpoli acec-bc

While there’s more work to do, this is a huge step in building back homes that were lost in #BCWildfire2023 .

People can see the impacts of climate disasters on food prices. We need to produce more food here in BC. Helping food producers like Vitalus Nutrition grow means more made-in-BC food on the shelves, and more good jobs and opportunities for British Columbians.
