The people in these offices translated the ideas of designers and engineers into detailed production drawings & plans.

All measurements & calculations had to be done by hand using drawing tools, slide rule & calculation tables

Met one of my all-time travel 'heroines' today - the stylish, elegant Concorde at her home Aerospace Bristol. Last time I saw her, she was in the air. Still looks futuristic, even 20+ years after retiring. Visit Bristol BGTW

This photo is from a booklet of “Concorde Facts” and highlights the advantages of Concorde.

The graph comparing a flight to the US on Concorde and a flight to the US in a subsonic jet, shows how the difference in flight time splits up into in-flight activity for the passenger.✈️

Before 3D computer aided design, wooden mock-ups were built to test practicalities, including whether fitters and mechanics could actually reach in far enough to do their work.

Did you know?🤔

No complete F.2B Fighters survive from the First World War.

The aircraft in our Heritage Hangar is a replica built by Airbus & Rolls-Royce apprentices using the original company plans still kept in the Aerospace Bristol archives.
