My Love Lyric class has been close reading “The Ecstasy.”We just got to lines 41-44. This is my favorite thing. The biology major recognized the alchemical language, everyone thought Donne looked “cozy” in his shroud (which I showed them to go with “sepulchral statues”)….

Mary Ann Lund Just to be clear: are we asking for a biopic of Donne's early life drawn from liberal interpretation of the amatory poetry and early modern relationships and clothing, or six hours of Dean Donne sermonizing at old Saint Pauls?

The best thing about this is that Adam Driver has already played a Jesuit, which would make him ideally suited to the role.

First, the obvious point: research funding has become a a professional factor *because* of austerity. We now need to apply for funding to do the most distinctive part of our jobs because the state has stripped away time and resources to do it as part of the normal day job.
