Today we took one of our founder members Tony Bell (AAB) over to the island for the day to celebrate his 91st birthday. Here he is enjoying his picnic lunch ❤️ Hilbre Bird Obs (est. 1957) wouldn’t be here today without Tony and the other founder members - thanks Tony 🙏

There were 13 wader species seen across the reserve, with a flock of 8 Greenshank, 1 Bar-tailed Godwit and 1 Ringed Plover being the highlights. Still a good number of Mediterranean Gulls are being seen on the Main Scrape, where 2 Ruff showed most of the day.

Burton Mere Wetlands is well known for its wide array of birds, but if you're lucky there's a chance of seeing the odd one or two furry friends when you visit, like enigmatic or perhaps a stealthy .

8spp warbler on patch this morning in the rain. The ploughed field held a Yellow Wagtail, a male Wheatear and a prob f Whinchat (too distant for bins) which flew north. Grasshopper warbler reeling from field behind where this Sedge Warbler was in song. Cheshire & Wirral Ornithological Society

A male Whinchat was a good find this morning by Barrie Armitt on Ashton's Flash marburypatch around the famous chat bushes. Still scarce here but we usually get at least one a year.

Up to 3 Grasshopper Warblers are currently holding territory around the Witton Flashes marburypatch and this one was on show at Haydn's Pool yesterday.
