On the 30th anniversary of the internet in China, the Chairs seek the release of those detained for their online activity, including #LiQiaochu , #RuanXiaohuan & #LongKehai —the latter jailed for posting criticism of the Chinese Communist Party on X, a platform banned in China.

The internet in China turns 30 today. Though the PRC gov't spends billions each year to restrict the free flow of information, circumventing censorship must remain a US priority, allowing the Chinese people to access a world free from the #CCP ’s propaganda, say China Commission Chairs.

After testimony by #ShiMinglei about her husband #ChengYuan making US-bound goods, @DHS_policy was asked to stop the import of work gloves made using political prisoner labor. CBP took action last week to do just that, a step the China Commission Chairs commend.

One year ago, #YuWensheng and his wife #XuYan were detained for their rights advocacy. Since then, their son reportedly attempted suicide, demonstrating the human cost of standing up to a repressive regime. They should be unconditionally released, say China Commission Chairs.

#EkparAsat (Ekber Eset) was detained 8 years ago after participating in the State Department’s prestigious International Visitor’s Leadership Program.
