🚨 Child poverty should not be normalised 🚨

Today, new shocking figures from @DWPgovUK show 100,000 more children are living in poverty than last year. There's no excuse for children to go without food, warmth, or basic necessities.

It's time for the UK government to…

Today's child poverty statistics for Scotland are not what we hoped - or needed - to see.
We must not allow ourselves to become numb to this reality. 24% of children living in poverty in Scotland is not a status quo we should accept.

Poverty stats out and showing bad news, still 240k children locked in poverty. Interim child poverty targets now presumably will be missed.😡

The SG need to wake up and deliver on their stated commitment to poverty reduction and Parliament needs to hold them to account to do so

Poverty in Scotland is gendered: women are more likely to be living in poverty & find it harder to escape poverty.

For , we drafted a briefing based on our participation work outlining women's experiences of poverty in Scotland.

UK Gov's will see Scottish Government receive £300m in Barnett consequentials. We were disappointed Scottish Government budget for 24/25 didn't include cash for increasing the Scottish Child Payment to £30. But these consequentials could fully fund the increase. A thread 🧵👇(1/4)

Good that FM Humza Yousaf today reaffirmed Scottish Government commitment to reducing child poverty. New modelling shows the impact of this ongoing commitment: child poverty is predicted to fall to 16% in 2023/24. If the modelling bears out, our interim child poverty targets could be met🧵
