Use Jan., Feb., Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec. with specific dates.
Spell out when alone or with a year: 'January 2006 was wet.'
Never shorten March, April, May June, or July.

0 C (freezing), 100 C (boiling).

Do not use below zero; use -5 C.
C is commonplace; it is not necessary to write out Celsius each time.

Use them only for essential clarification, to enclose nicknames, or when numbering series. Remember, punctuation goes outside for the whole sentence, and inside for only the bracketed part.
